Laverne Alious Nigg

Laverne "Bud" Alious Nigg was born in Peever, South Dakota on June 22, 1918.  Laberne was the fourth of twelve children born to Tony and Lillian Nigg.  They moved to Browns Valley, MN in 1944.

When Laverne enlisted in the US Navy, he was a Seaman, Second Class.  S2C Nigg was assigned to the USS Oklahoma and served on board for many years. 

In December of 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Nigg received a telegram from the war department announcing that their son was listed as missing sicne the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. 

Laverne's name is listed on the tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.  He was issued the Purple Heart for his bravery.
