Clarence Merton Caskey was born on September 18, 1922 to Earl and Nellie Caskey in a little town called Carlsberg, just outside of Sequim, Wasington. He was the oldest of three.
Clarence ran away from home to join the Navy as his parents did not want him to join. He had been home on leave and had just returned to his ship after Thanksgiving.
Within a month of the starting of the war, Clarence's father joined the Army Engineers, his mom joined the motor Pool at Ft. Lawton driving jeeps, his younger brother joined the Navy and his younger sister went into nurses training.
The Port Angeles, Washington Chapter No. 9of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is named in honor of Clarence Merton Caskey. |
